Jeff Beck Plays Les Paul Tribute At Iridium Club

On June 8th and 9th, Jeff Beck will play two performances as a tribute to the wonderful Les Paul.
The shows will take place at the Iridium Jazz Club, where Les played every week for the last 12 years of his life.  Every Monday, right up until his death at 94, Les played there and these shows are presented by the Iridium in collaboration with Gibson.
Beck will be ably aided by Imelda May and her band.  May has worked with Beck on a number of occasions – most notably perhaps, at the …

Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010

Details of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival for 2010 have been announced.
The day-long festival will take part on Saturday, June 26th, 2010 in Toyota Park, Chicago.
Clapton claims that it’s a selfish thing – gathering so many musicians he admires together to hear them play – but the festival’s proceeds are to be donated to Clapton’s Crossroads Centre.  The centre, located on the island of Antigua provides addiction treatment programmes.

Although bit of a jazz standard, the best known recording of How High The Moon was made by Les Paul and Mary Ford in 1951 and spent nine weeks at the number 1 position in the billboard charts.
Here you can see Jeff and Imelda performing a very nice version of the Les and Mary classic…

And, if you want to get an idea of …

The Gallstones Of God

Eric Clapton was to appear, tonight and tomorrow (October 30th and 31st) at The Hall Of Fame concerts in Madison Square garden.
He has, unfortunately, had to pull out of these appearances after having undergone surgery to remove gallstones.
Stepping into the scheduling hole will be another former Yardbird, Jeff Beck.  Beck was recently inducted into the Hall Of Fame himself (back in April ’09).  Beck was inducted by Jimmy Page, if you’re interested.
Clapton is said to be recovering well and will pick-up his touring schedule in 2010.
The picture opposite helpfully points …
