You’re a millionaire playboy guitarist with a vintage Fender or you’re just someone with one of many current or past Fender originals and reissues.
Whatever the case, you’re finding that those big blues bends that you love doing are buzzing or, worse still, choking-out completely and dying. Your guitar plays fine and buzz-free the rest of the time but as soon as you go for a nice, soulful, bent note, it buzzes or chokes.
Annoying.
Possibly more annoying is when I tell you that there’s a good chance it’s just a limitation …

PRS is not ungrateful. Provided you live in the US of course.
If you are States-based, and you buy yourself a shiny new PRS guitar – from an authorised PRS dealer – between October 15th and December 31st, 2009, you can get yourself a big thank you from PRS.
All you need to do is to send a copy of your receipt and the serial number of your axe to PRS and they will send you the PRS Thank You Pack which includes PRS-branded picks, strap, strings and cleaning kit. Oh, …

You know the story – you’re mid solo and about to move the audience to tears of awe and emotion with some poignant vibrato action. You reach for your trem and… nothing. It’s not where you left it. The damn thing’s flapped all over the place during your last number and is now pointing backwards. Your fumbling about for it ruins the moment. The audience is lost. They start to throw pint-pots and Pringles tubes – eeeeuuuuww, original flavour.
There is a solution to loose and flappy whammy bars. Meet the …

Ok, the Reverse V has always looked a bit weird to me but who wouldn’t want the chance to actually own one?
Gibson and The Gay Blades are giving one away. A snazzy white one just like the one pictured here. All you need to do is go to The Gay Blades site and follow the easy instructions which, basically, just require you to send them an email answering ‘who is your favourite guitar player?’ I’m relatively sure that it’s not a trick question where all answers referring to non-Gay Blades …

If you’re a Taylor player based in the UK, it might be worth noting that Taylor Guitars are sending two of their top guitar technicians all the way from California to sunny Leicester in order to service guitars.
Taylor call it Re-Tech.
The event will take place during the Acoustic Avalon show on the 14th and 15th of November between 10AM and 5:30PM. The show is based at the Leicester Racecourse Conference Centre.
Although this is a FREE service, it is very, very limited. Only 50 guitars a day can be seen. Therefore, …

Eric Clapton was to appear, tonight and tomorrow (October 30th and 31st) at The Hall Of Fame concerts in Madison Square garden.
He has, unfortunately, had to pull out of these appearances after having undergone surgery to remove gallstones.
Stepping into the scheduling hole will be another former Yardbird, Jeff Beck. Beck was recently inducted into the Hall Of Fame himself (back in April ‘09). Beck was inducted by Jimmy Page, if you’re interested.
Clapton is said to be recovering well and will pick-up his touring schedule in 2010.
The picture opposite helpfully points …

I hope Jeff won’t mind my including an image here as …

If you’re a rocker of a certain age, there’s a good chance you spent a chunk of your formative years listening to early Ozzy albums desperately trying to figure out what the hell Randy Rhoads was playing. You whippersnappers may have done similar with the albums of the latter-day Ozzy with Zakk Wylde.
Lick Library have just announced, not only a Randy Rhoads, but also a Zakk Wylde version of their Learn To Play – The Solos DVDs.
As well as the DVD tutorials, these releases include a CD of professionally recorded …

Don’t have an iPhone to enable you to view your tabs in electronic format but want a snazzy gizmo backed by a massive tab library?
Well, the iTab could be just the thing.
It’s a new device that, at its simplest, stores and displays tab. It does a lot more besides – at least in one of its various formats.
Entry level is the iTab Lite with a 5″ screen. This is the most basic model and can display and scroll chord tabs while allowing some basic editing capabilities. It’s aimed primarily at …

That’s quite handsome, isn’t it? Gretsch have press-gagnged renowned hot-rod graphic artist, JimmyC into decorating a heap of Electromatic G5120 guitars.
Using the same enamel paints he would on cars or bikes, JimmyC hand-paints each guitar. The pinstriping is applied on top of the guitar’s original finish and, because it’s done by hand, each will be an original – no two will be the same. Cool, eh?
The guitar underneath the stripes is, essentially, Gretsch’s Electromatic G5120 but there are some differences. Gretsch tell us it will have newly designed pickups and …
